An Experienced Negotiator With Iran on Vance’s Failure to Make a Quick Deal With an Enemy of 47 Years

We begin with the failure of negotiations in Pakistan between VP Vance and Iran’s Foreign Minister and Speaker of the Parliament with Trump now ordering a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz on top of the Iranian blockade. Joining us to discuss his agonizingly long negotiations with Iran so far in contrast to the expectation that a deal to end a war and 47 years of bitter confrontation can be ended in a weekend is Robert Malley. He served as a special assistant to President Clinton for Arab-Israeli affairs, prior to that he was Executive Assistant to Samuel Berger, President Clinton’s National Security Advisor and was Director for Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs for the National Security Council. Malley was President Obama’s lead negotiator on the 2015 Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action JCPOA and President Joe Biden named Malley as special U.S. envoy for Iran. He is currently a Senior Fellow and Lecturer at Yale University’s Jackson School, and his latest book is Tomorrow Is Yesterday: Life, Death, and the Pursuit of Peace in Israel/Palestine.

An Update on Hungary’s Election That Has Trump and Putin Campaigning For Orban

Then we get an update on today’s elections in Hungary that might end the kleptocratic and authoritarian rule of the illiberal PM Orban who VP Vance just campaigned for along with Marco Rubio and Vladimir Putin who has sent his SVR and GRU spies to help rig an already rigged election which has the challenger in the lead. Joining us is David Broder, a historian of the Italian far-right. He is a regular contributor to the New Statesman and Internazionale as well as the Europe editor for Jacobin. She just gave a bizarre 6 minute press conference from the White House on Thursday without taking questions, apparently to get ahead of damaging threats coming from an old friend and ex wife of her’s and Trump’s close friend and White House Special Envoy Paolo Zampolli. As reported in the New York Times, Zampolli used his Trump connections to have ICE deport his ex wife Amanda Ungaro and she is now threatening to expose the whole sordid past of Melania, Trump, Maxwell, Epstein and Zampolli’s connections to sex-trafficking, prostitution and pedophilia. The day before Melania’s press conference Amanda Ungaro posted to Melania from Brazil, “I have nothing left to lose in my life. I will tear down the entire system – be careful with me bitch…I will take legal action against you and your pedolphile husband.” Joining us is Nina Burleigh, a senior editor at The New Republic, best-selling author, documentary producer, and publisher of the Substack American Freakshow.
