Could a Ceasefire Between Israel and Lebanon Lead to an Iran-US Agreement to End the War?

We begin with an update on the blockade of the Persian Gulf amid reports that negotiations with Iran might resume soon, tempered by threats from the IRGC that they will blow up Saudi, Kuwaiti, UAE and Qatari oil and gas facilities if Iranian ports are blocked. He had a 28-year career in the U.S. intelligence community, in which his last position was National Intelligence Officer for the Near East and South Asia and is the author of Terrorism and US Foreign Policy, Negotiating Peace: War Termination as a Bargaining Process and Why America Misunderstands the World. We discuss his article at Responsible Statecraft, “What if Israel just won’t stop?”

We speak with Harold Meyerson, one of the nation’s best-known progressive columnists and editor-at-large of The American Prospect. He’s also been a Washington Post columnist and executive editor of LA Weekly, and has written for a number of prominent magazines and newspapers. His latest articles at The American Prospect include “A Really Bad Week for the Global Right” and “The Nation’s Most Democratic State Might Elect a Trump-Friendly Governor.
