While Americans Fight Back Against Big Tech and Billionaire Bros, Some Resort to Violence in This New Era of Class Warfare
We begin with income inequality reaching the point in this country where working Americans are fighting back against the billionaire tech bros’ data centers and some are even resorting to shooting CEOs and burning down warehouses as in the case in Ontario, California where before setting the blaze, the young arsonist asks plaintively “all you had to do was to pay us enough to live.” Joining us is Kim Phillips-Fein, the Robert Gardiner-Kenneth T. Jackson Professor of History at Columbia University. A historian of 20th-century American politics and political economy, whose interests include the history of political institutions and ideas, the history of labor and capitalism and the history of New York City, she is the author of Fear City: New York’s Fiscal Crisis and the Rise of Austerity Politics, a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, and Invisible Hands.
