We will begin with tomorrow’s 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and assess what we have learned since our military response played into Bin Laden’s hands, turning a fringe obscurantist cult into a global movement as well as what we have not learned due to coverups by successive U.S. governments of Saudi culpability in spite of emerging evidence of Saudi involvement. Joining us is Scott Hibbard, a Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science at DePaul University. He is the author of Religious Politics and Secular States: Egypt, India and the United States and the co-author of Islamic Activism and U.S. Foreign Policy. His forthcoming book is America’s Long War with Islamist Militancy and he has an article at Responsible Statecraft we will discuss, “25 years after 9/11, the US still doesn’t know ‘why they hate us.’”

He is Executive Director of the Leon Levy Center for Biography at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City. His new book, co-authored with his wife Susan Goldmark, is American Scoundrel: Roy Cohn’s Dark Journey from Joe McCarthy to Donald Trump.

Then finally we will speak with Eric Schlosser, who has written for The Atlantic since 1994 and he has received a National Magazine Award and a Sidney Hillman Foundation Award for reporting. His book about nuclear weapons, Command and Control, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in History.
