How the Television Version of Governor Cuomo Differs From What We Now Read in the Newspaper

We begin with how much modern politics are driven by who is telegenic rather than who is competent and look into how New York’s Governor Cuomo was seen as a rising star in the Democratic Party whereas Governor Inslee of Washington State who did a much better job handling the pandemic than Cuomo did, came off poorly in the Democratic primary debates. Ryan Cooper, a national correspondent at The Week who is the co-host of @LeftAnchor podcast joins us to discuss his latest article at The Week, “Cuomo and Inslee: A Covid-19 tale of two governors.”  We assess the extent to which the need to find a telegenic Democrat to counter Trump’s domination of the airwaves was misguided now that the public is finding the ordinary Biden a welcome change from Trump, and how different the TV version of Cuomo is from the newspaper version of him.
