The Republican Electoral Coup Underway to Offset a Wipeout in November by Gerrymandering to Hold the House and Senate Before One Vote is Cast

We begin with the outrageous anti-democratic display of authoritarian political thuggery underway by the Republicans who would rather cheat than compete, and thanks to John Roberts’ Supreme Court, are being rescued from an electoral wipeout as they rush with unseemly haste to rig the voting maps with flagrant gerrymanders so that they might end up holding the House and Senate in November before one vote is cast. Joining us is David Daley, the author of Antidemocratic: Inside the right’s 50-year plot to control American elections, as well as the national best-seller Ratf**ked: Why Your Vote Doesn’t Count, which has been credited for kickstarting the national movement to reform redistricting. He is the former Editor-in-Chief of Salon and has an article at Salon we discuss, “This was John Roberts’ plan all along.”

An Update on the Trump – Xi Summit

His latest book is Coalitions of the Weak: Elite politics in China from Mao’s stratagem to the rise of Xi.

How a Generation of Over-Qualified Young Americans With Degrees Working in the Gig Economy Will Impact Our Politics in the Future

Then finally we examine how a generation of over-qualified young Americans with degrees and shackled with college debt who are working in the gig economy, are moving to the left politically and what impact that will have on our politics in the future. Joining us is Noam Scheiber, who covers labor and the workplace for The New York Times and previously covered economic policy and three presidential campaigns for The New Republic. He is the author of The Escape Artists: How Obama’s Team Fumbled the Recovery and his latest book, just out, is Mutiny: The Rise and Revolt of the College-Educated Working Class.
