Instead of an End to Violence in the Persian Gulf as Trump’s 80th Birthday Gift From Iran, He Celebrates Mindless Violence in the Claw Where Jackie Kennedy’s Rose Garden Once Stood

We begin with Trump hoping for a birthday present in the form of a peace deal to end his war on Iran which Iran’s IRGC seems unwilling to grant, although apparently in a few days an MOU will be signed. Joining us to discuss the proposed 60 day ceasefire, an opening of the Strait of Hormuz and end to the US blockade and the handing over of $24 billion to Iran is Harrison Mann, Associate Director for Campaigns and Policy at Win Without War, a progressive national security advocacy network. His advocacy and public commentary focus on reforming U.S. Middle East policy and illuminating the connections between foreign and domestic policy. He is a former US Army major assigned to the Defense Intelligence Agency who resigned in protest of the Department of Defence’s support for the Israeli military and its war on Gaza.

Previously, she served as founding faculty director of the Promise Institute for Human Rights at UCLA Law and is the former director of the UCLA Center for Near Eastern Studies. We discuss her article at The Boston Review, “The ceasefire in the Persian Gulf is a prelude to an emerging, precarious realignment.
