The Trump-controlled US Senate Elevates Bove as the Law is Weaponized to Keep Unqualified Ideologues On As US Attorneys

We begin with the Trump-controlled US Senate elevating Emil Bove to the Court of Appeals and possibly on to the Supreme Court and assess the extent to which Trump has successfully weaponized the law by using extreme maneuvers to keep on unqualified ideologues as US Attorneys. Joining us is Erwin Chemerinsky, the Dean of the Law School at UC Berkeley who frequently argues cases before the highest courts, including the Supreme Court. His books include The Conservative Assault on the Constitution, The Case Against the Supreme Court, Free Speech on Campus and Presumed Guilty: How the Supreme Court Empowered the Police and Subverted Civil Rights and his latest book is No Democracy Lasts Forever.

The Good and the Bad of Having a Foreign Policy Amateur in the Oval Office

Then we examine the good and the bad of having an amateur in the Oval Office and how Trump’s government by stunt, with the presidency following an unscripted reality TV show, is impacting our foreign policy and speak with Stephen Wertheim, a senior fellow in the American Statecraft Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He is the author of Tomorrow, the World: The Birth of U.S. Global Supremacy and we will discuss his article at the New York Times: “Trump Is a Situational Man in a Structural Bind.”

The Senate Tries To Make the Epstein Files Public as the Republicans Stonewall Protecting Their “Dear Leader”

Then finally, with the senate using an arcane move to make the Epstein files public as the Republicans stonewall, slavishly protecting their “dear leader”, we speak with Sidney Blumenthal, the former assistant and senior adviser to President Bill Clinton, and senior adviser to Hillary Clinton. He has been a national staff reporter for The Washington Post, Washington editor and staff writer for The New Yorker and his books include the bestsellers The Clinton Wars, The Rise of the Counter-Establishment and The Permanent Campaign. His latest book is All the Powers on Earth, The Political Life of Abraham Lincoln 1856-1860, and we will discuss his latest article at The Guardian, “Trump’s attempts at damage control on Epstein are just making things worse.”
